More than 65 Years in the Business of General and Specialized Mechanics
It was in 1944 that the Garage Lionel Sirois was founded in the little village of St.-Basile, 5 km from Edmundston.
In the ‘40s and the ‘50s, there were fewer cars than there are today. On the other hand, the demand for repairs on trucks and agricultural machinery was growing rapidly. With his sense of business and management, my grandfather seized the opportunity to start his own business under the name of “Garage Lionel Sirois”. For more than 40 years, he ran his business with passion and enthusiasm, and always with the motto: ”The Service”.
Having been a mechanic since 1978, I decided to carry on this business, which had been so well established, with the same passion. In March 1985, I gave this family business a fresh start, under the name “Garage Daniel Bois”. It involved renovating and enlarging my business and yet keeping service in general mechanics a priority. In 1987, I founded the company ”North West Towing”. In 1989, I enlarged the garage and went from one bay to three. In the following year, I added a workshop for repairs and maintenance of automobile and industrial air conditioning, as well as a repair shop for radiators.
After that, with the help of Mr. Garry Perron, owner and founder of G.P. Transmission in Campbellton New Brunswick, I launched into the field of automatic and manual transmission repair, as well as transfer boxes for 4×4 vehicles. In 1996, we became the Edmundston branch of G.P. Transmission for parts sales and services.
At the beginning of 2000, with computerization and the development of electronic systems in vehicles, the demand for repairs of these different systems grew significantly. René Louis Clavet, one of our key employees, showed a great interest in this new technology. So, we acquired the necessary equipment in order to diagnose and repair these new vehicles. René Louis continues to develop his skills and he excels in this field.
In 2002, we also came under the Napa Autopro Banner.
As of 2003, we added a fourth bay to our garage, a new office and, not to be forgotten, a new façade, reminiscent of my grandfather’s garage of the ‘50s.
In December 2008, we acquired the complete equipment for rebuilding gas and diesel motors. Mr. Antoine Thériault, with his 35 years of experience in the field of re-building motors of every kind, joined our team in January 2009.
I credit our success to all our employees who have worked for us in the past and those who work for us today. I would also like to thank our business partners, and most importantly, our faithful customers.
We are happy to have served you for more than 65 years and hope to continue our service for many more years to come!
Thank you!
Daniel
